More about this product

Featured here is a fantastic This spectacular 3.35 carat diamond displays all the characteristics of the renowned Golconda diamonds. This enchanting pear-cut stone is classified by the Gemological Institute of America as being internally flawless, D-color, and type IIa, meaning there is no trace of nitrogen (the element that gives diamonds color), key hallmarks of all Golcondas. The Type IIa classification also means that this diamond is a full two shades whiter than a typical D-color diamond. Accented by two baguette diamonds, which weigh 1 total carats and boast E/F-color and VS-clarity, this gem is truly one of the world’s greatest treasures.

Known as the “Ultimate Diamond,” Golconda diamonds have only ever been found on the market in small numbers. Universally accepted as the finest and purest of all diamonds, Golcondas possess levels of transparency unrivaled by any other diamond in the world. The term “Golconda” refers to the ancient city in India where the diamond trade flourished in the 18th century due to the extraordinary quality of the gems unearthed from its mines. As these mines are now extinct, Golconda diamonds are among the rarest and most precious in the world.

This diamonds are regularly knocking down auction records. Gems of this type are often called “Golconda” diamonds after the famous Indian mines that supplied a majority of the world’s diamonds until they were mined out in the early 18th Century. Collectors, particularly Europeans are willing to pay high premiums for these rare gems and for good reason.

Most of the world’s big name diamonds, those mined before 1725, the Koh-I-Noor, The Sancy and for that matter, The Hope diamond came from the fabled diamond mines of India, all are type II diamonds.

Type IIa is a rare type of diamond that contains no measurable amounts of Nitrogen. Nitrogen is the impurity that imparts the yellow color in diamonds. As a result “white” diamonds of this type tend to be colorless (D-F) colors and have few inclusions.

This is an investment grade diamond and comes with two GIA certificates.

The difference between this diamond and a regular diamond Type IIa diamonds they are the most valued and the purest type of diamonds.

They contain either very little or no nitrogen atoms in the crystal structure.

White stones are exceptionally colorless and they represent only 1% of all mined diamonds in the world.

A Golconda diamond is in comparison ‘whiter than white.

If you place a Golconda diamond alongside a no Golconda type D-color diamond the purity of the Golconda stone will become evident because they are whiter.
