Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure of all diamonds, and lack the traces of nitrogen that give most diamonds their color and inclusions. These are the rarest of all white diamonds, and though “D – Flawless” is the highest grade awarded by the GIA, most diamond experts agree that Type IIa stones appear much whiter and more brilliant than any other diamonds.
